The Biggest Branding Mistakes Therapists Make

Being a therapist is a tough job. You go through thousands of hours of schooling, then thousands of hours of training, and then there’s all the blood, sweat, and tears that go into establishing your practice. And then you’re expected to know about how to run a business and how to do marketing when you weren’t taught this in school?! That doesn’t make any sense!

Over the years I’ve noticed one area that therapists struggle in is branding. Creating a brand from scratch can be hard, especially if you have no idea what you’re doing (like me when I first started out over a decade ago!). The term “branding” gets thrown around a lot, and it can feel confusing or just downright overwhelming if you’re a brand new small business owner.

I’ve made SO many branding mistakes along my journey. But the good news is, this doesn’t have to be you! If you’re a therapist who wants to work on their branding but isn’t sure where to begin, I sat down with my good friend, Marie Fang of Private Practice Skills to discuss the 3 BIGGEST branding mistakes therapists make. (By the way, even though we had this conversation with therapists in mind, these tips could easily apply to anyone who has a small business.)

When you’re learning how to create your brand for the first time, it can be easy to make mistakes that make you look like you don’t know what you’re doing. The good news is, these mistakes are easy to avoid once you know them. In this episode, Marie and I had a blast talking about the most common branding mistakes out there, and what you can do make sure this isn’t you! (And when I say we had a blast, I mean, I just adore this woman and we laughed so much, and I can’t get enough of her!)

Are you ready to learn what NOT to do when it comes to your brand? Watch the video here, and be sure to give Marie a follow on Youtube and leave a comment with what you think!
